Director, On-line Marketing
Job Description and Responsibilities:

cFares, the membership – based Internet travel site that thousands of knowledgeable travelers depend on for their travel needs, is seeking a Director On-line Marketing to lead cFare’s on-line traffic generation programs, including traffic driven from SEO, SEM, and affiliate relationships.  These programs will cover both acquiring new customers and encouraging repeat visits by existing customers. 

This individual will report directly to our VP Marketing and work closely with senior management, product management, and designers to ensure that traffic grows consistently with high quality, and that changes/enhancements to the company’s web site(s) does not negatively impact traffic generation, especially organic traffic growth.

Daily tasks will include:

  • Search Engine Optimization
    • Delivering SEO traffic at the level specified in the plan
    • Developing and implementing SEO strategy
    • Working with cFares SEO Agency, defining the goals and tactics of the SEO program
    • Developing keyword lists and rankings
    • Implementing site architectural updates – header tags, site maps, URL structures, etc.
    • Implementing link building campaigns
    • Working with our CMS to manage dynamic content to ensure site stickiness, page views/visit, and SEO rankings.
    • In conjunction with the VP Marketing, PR team, and ad agencies, help develop viral, promotional, and other programs that generate high levels of organic traffic

 

  • Search Engine Management
    • Developing master keyword lists
    • Developing CPC creatives for various channels
    • In conjunction with VP Marketing, create marketing campaigns on all channels
    • Day-to-day management of cFare’s directly-managed CPM channels, including adjusting prices, changing campaign structures, uploading keywords, changing destination URLs, etc.
    • Design and develop automation (programs, scripts) for keyword generation, management, and CPC submission
    • In conjunction with VP Marketing, developing and testing CPC marketing hypotheses

     

  • Affiliates
    • Develop and implement strategies for meeting affiliate traffic metrics
    • Structure and negotiate programs with third-party affiliate vendors
    • As needed, develop PRDs and work with engineering to deliver affiliate functionality to the cFares web site

 

  • Analytics
    • Preparation of daily monthly and quarterly dashboards
    • Creating and tracking appropriate metrics for the business. 
    • Developing, managing and directing the core analytics systems for the business
    • Performing ad-hoc SQL queries on the database
    • Updating log files into AWstats and analyzing the data
    • In conjunction with cFares SEO agency and VP Marketing, monitor performance of cFare’s SEO and SEM metrics
Required Background/Skills:
  • Knowledge of best-practice SEO tools and techniques; minimum 3-5 years of actively managing SEO programs.
  • Detailed knowledge of CPC advertising processes, tools, and techniques; 3-5 years actively managing CPC campaigns, especially on Google, MSN, and Overture.
  • Basic training in web site design.
  • Knowledge of HTML, XML, PHP, PERL, and other scripting languages used on Web sites.
  • Strong background in database architectures and development.   Ability to work with engineering to specify updates to database structures to support traffic growth and analytics.
  • Intimate knowledge of Excel, VB for Applications, SQL, and log file analysis.
  • 1-3 years working with Internet analytics packages (e.g. Coremetrics, Omniture, Web Side Story)
  • Understanding of the basic concepts involved in a content management system.
  • Ability to develop detailed financial models based on traffic assumptions.
  • MBA preferred

cFares is a membership travel service with two levels of membership Gold (free) and Platinum ($50 per year). Gold members can use our site to search the entire published fare market, find the best fare available, get routed to the merchant’s site and book it. Platinum members can take advantage of even better fares that are below those available at other travel sites. cFares brings you these fares by tapping into new wholesale inventory and using proprietary dynamic pricing technology not available on other travel sites.
