Vajid Jafri
cFares is Jafri's next entrepreneurial challenge. Jafri founded cFares to build Travel 3.0 for the Internet and become the successor technology to the much outdated Online Travel Agencies (OLTAs). cFares creates value for the consumer by bringing deeply discounted wholesale fares found mostly offline to the Internet through a patented technology that allows the consumer to name their price for an airline ticket with full knowledge of the product before they purchase it.
Prior to launching cFares, Jafri founded Excambria, Inc., Docunet, Teletix, Inc., Jafcom Systems, Inc., and Tri World Inc. He founded Docunet in May 1990 to develop the first SuperATM, a patented ATM machine that books and delivers airline tickets, event tickets, cash and stored value/smart cards. In addition to the SuperATM, he introduced many novel technologies for the travel industry, including the first consumer driven online booking engine for air, car and hotel reservations, for which he was awarded a patent.
Jafri holds an MS in Engineering from Stanford University and a BS in Engineering from Pakistan Engineering University.
Jafri has traveled the world both as a student on a budget and as an executive with all the perks. Through his experience, he learned how to get the maximum value of his travel dollar irrespective of the class of service he purchased. When Jafri is not in the office, which is rare, he enjoys skiing, horseback riding, bicycling, and hiking with his wife and two children.
